The pad is very hard to fit and give good coverage.The design just doesn't really allow a good tight fit to put ice cold water where you need to have the coverage. I ended up using conventional ice packs

66 years old at time of 1st surgery x2…Highly, highly recommend the DonJoy IceMan for post knee replacement surgery….cube ice was my preference vs. frozen water bottles….i used a wet towel wrap underneath pad as well…good luck..✌🏻
Recovering from rotator cuff surgery. This wrap on pad is absolutely necessary—excellent fit if you follow the fit instructions. The pad that comes with the Donjoy Iceman is not sufficient for a total shoulder application. Get this one. Get the 12-pack ice bag packs also. The ability to constantly rotate them through the Iceman is invaluable.

Easy to set up and use, and my husband loves the pain control pre-surgery! We use small water bottles that we freeze and then use instead of ice, the system retains the cold water for hours, making repeated cold therapy simple and effective!
